São Paulo FC made the decision to dismiss four staff members from the youth academy recruitment department on Tuesday. This measure is part of a restructuring process aimed at streamlining the department, with expectations that five more staff members will leave their positions next week. The club's board, led by José Roberto Canassa, believes that the number of professionals was above what is necessary, especially after reducing the volume of signings for the youth teams. With these changes, the department will shrink from 27 to 18 professionals. The need to reduce the number of athletes in the youth categories was also a significant factor, as the under-20 squad had around 53 players under contract at the beginning of the year. São Paulo FC, which was the runner-up in this season's Copinha, has already promoted eight athletes to the professional squad and plans to loan out or terminate contracts for other players in the coming months.
